Burnout came for me after a long season of holding too much together for too long.
Sounds obvious, right? But thatâs the sneaky thing about burnout â it doesnât arrive all at once. It creeps in quietly, disguised as productivity, people-pleasing, and pushing through.
For me, it wasnât just the weight of daily responsibilities. Burnout was the result of old childhood wounds being reactivated â traumas I thought I had already healed, reawakened by lifeâs curveballs. I had been a therapist and coach for over 15 years, yet even with all my tools, I missed the signs.
I stopped listening to myself.
I tried to "heal" the way I had always done â by thinking my way through it, by doing more, pushing harder, hoping I could work my way out. But healing doesnât come from doing more. Healing came when I slowed down enough to actually hear what my body and soul had been whispering for years.
I didnât need more productivity hacks.
I needed permission to rest.
I needed to stop managing symptoms and start tending to my system.
What burnout taught me â and what I now help my clients reclaim â is that true healing isnât just mindset work. Itâs nervous system care. Itâs energy work. Itâs soul work.
You canât heal the mind, body, or soul in isolation â you have to support all three in a delicate, sacred dance. Some days youâll feel strong. Other days youâll be triggered and spiralling. But that doesnât mean youâve failed â it means youâre healing.
